About Ironwood
Caleb Pederson is the artist and craftsman behind Ironwood. Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Caleb grew up surrounded by the trades, where hands-on work was a way of life. He first picked up a welding torch in high school, eventually honing his skills in the high-stakes world of medical fabrication, welding equipment for orthopedic surgeons. That work demanded precision, discipline, and a commitment to quality, principles that would become the foundation of Ironwood.
Alongside his wife, woodworking began as a shared hobby, a way to unwind and create with purpose. The two joined a local woodworking club, where they learned from seasoned craftsmen who generously passed down their time-earned techniques. What started as weekend projects for friends and family quickly evolved. As demand grew, Caleb and his wife faced a defining decision: remain in the safety of their careers, or step into the unknown and pursue this journey full-time.
They chose to step into the unknown. But more importantly, they chose faith.
For Caleb and his family, the decision to build furniture wasn’t just a career move—it was an act of faith. Leaving behind the security of steady paychecks was a leap, but one made with the belief that their calling was more important than comfort. Every piece created in their workshop is more than wood and steel—it’s a reflection of their trust in God’s plan and a testament to the belief that meaningful work can serve a higher purpose.
Our logo—a shield and sword—is not just a design. It’s a declaration, inspired by Ephesians 6:16–17:
“Take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
These two symbols are at the heart of our brand:
The Shield of Faith represents divine protection and unwavering trust. For us, it mirrors the strength and integrity of every handcrafted piece. Furniture built to endure, just as faith holds firm through life’s trials.
The Sword of the Spirit signifies precision, truth, and purpose. Like the Word of God pierces through darkness with Light, our designs are our sword against entropy. Hoping to bring beauty, intention, and meaning into the lives of our customers.
Every piece that leaves our workshop carries more than precise joinery or fine craftsmanship. It carries a message. They are all designed to become part of someone’s story: a place where meals are shared, prayers are spoken, children grow, and memories are made.
We believe that true craftsmanship doesn't end with the maker, it lives on through the people who use it. That’s why we look with an eye toward not just how it looks, but how it will live. Each piece is built to serve with purpose, last for generations, and remind those who gather around it that their stories matter.
At its core, Ironwood is about more than building furniture. It’s about building connections-between people, between homes, and between heaven and earth.
